Sitting pretty

Do you happen to fall in love ones in a while with a beautiful piece of furniture?
It has just happen to me and I can't get this lovely small settee out of my mind:

If I would be a true princess I would say: I have to have it!!! And stamp my little foot firmly on the ground! And it would appear soon thereafter!
Well, no magic will bring it, but perhaps a lot of saving and some moving and pushing to make space... so one day I make this dream come true!
It is the POETEN sofa - the name alone - from Finn Juhl, the Danish designer and I love the lines, the petite feel and the colours. He has designed a lot of beautiful pieces in his day, but this one stole my heart!

Or I could move into this lovely room, sit next to the fireplace with a cup of tea and listen to some music! And the painting above me would protect my solitude!

Did you ever fall in love with a something like that?
Are you reclining, sitting or sleeping (or looking) on your dream piece?
Or maybe still wait for the moment to arrive?

I often muse about the way we find all the pieces we surround ourselves by, part necessity, part practicality (White sofa/black dog???), part inherited, bigger part budget, part compromise (in taste)...and when it's time to change and move to a new stage.

  1. Victoria, thank you so much for this. This is the sofa that I too want, need to have. Saving already. Wouldn't mind the mustard chair too. I am so excited about this.

  2. I love a good comfortable chair for reading and I'm still on the lookout for one! Books and bookshelves are my weakness. I don't NEED to purchase them (I could always borrow a book) but I just love books so much.

To answer the question in your comment on my blog, I have my room all to myself. And I'm always rearranging it :)

  3. That is an adorable little sofa. I really like it in the white fabric. There are so many things that I see that I love. I think I need a couple of homes to decorate!

  4. I am glad you live close, I would come over just to sit on that sofa, next to your dog and have a cup of tea and listen to you tinkle the ivories!
I really love that little sofa, it has such a hip friendly vibe, I could see it in Anthro, or in Kate Spade - it has such attitude. (sort of like a teenager in a good way! :)

  5. Sometimes it's good to be forever young!

  6. This is a lovely sofa and I especially like it in the last picture. My desk is my favourite piece at the moment...xv

  7. What a great sofa. I have so many places I could use that...!

  8. hey victoria, thanks so much for being leaving such sweet comments on my blog. best, shannon

  9. What a lovley comfortable chair. I have to say from looking at the photos, not only I fall in love with the chair but also the house!! I want my house to look like that...your taste is impeccable. You always know how to pick the best looking piece of interior decor!! I love that!!

  10. I must admit it appeals although my style of sofa is a bit more minimalist/comfy, less designy. I like it in white on the beautiful boards with a a sweet sparse room - saved the picture :)

Looks as if I too am dreaming of my "space". Peace, love, xxx
