Friday books

It's Friday, a lookout towards the weekend (yipee)and perhaps you can carve out some time for reading...
My list grows longer every day! I have a enormous wish list, some of the books below I have read, most I haven't. But all are enticing enough!
For now I am practicing my nook and safe money by downloading some lighter reading material...for quite a bit less.
Maybe you would like some reading inspiration?

There are some books for summer reading...

For our Italian holiday...

And new books to study for my design library...

Children's books, which I often adore and read as well...

The last one by Michael Scott is part of a series which I highly recommend for preteens and teens alike. I have devoured them and can't wait to read this latest released in May 2010!
And all by Rick Riordan, hardly need to mention this, since most of the children 8 and up I know are crazy about the Percy Jackson series or the latest one: The Red Pyramid.

Reading - you could find me here...how gorgeous is this spot???

I am reading right now for my book club: fascinating and sad and wonderfully written by Toni Morrison.

I am sorry - it's a rather long list! I can't help myself...
If you have any great suggestions I'd love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful sunny weekend! Pick up a book..

  1. Wow such a huge list! I haven't read most of them! I'm starring this entry to reference to. I really like Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Aside from other classics, I also enjoyed The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Have you ever read The Shadow of the Wind? It's one of my favorites.

  4. Ann,
Yes, my son gave it to me and I liked it very much, a bit mystery and love story and finding out about life... great book! Actually I want to read Zafon's later one 'The Angel's Game'. There is so much to read...
I have a whole section on my blog dedicated to book blogs. Why don't you have a look! :)

  5. I also loved The Shadow of the Wind. Perhaps you would like Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke - a favourite. At the moment I am reading my way through all the Icelandic crime fictions!!

  6. The first thing I notice is a book is its cover. And you have some books with winning covers!! Have fun reading :)

I still think you should definitely check The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons... It's out in a new addition in the US! If you feel like crying over a book, this is the one for you!

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Oh my dear, I feel like a child in the sweet shop. What a top-notch selection of books in here! Jasper Conran is a man of nostalgia! I must get his Country book! I know it came out recently but it's a bit pricey but then one would expect it with JC who is a man with impeccable taste! I heard that the book is beautifully written and photographed. I almost finish reading A. S. Byatt's new novel...it's a serious book. As for your Italian holiday novel, may I recommend you a beautiful English writer called, Rachel Cusk. Rachel Cusk's gentle and most elegant story entitled "The Last Supper: A Summer in Italy" will always remain in my all time favourite books list. What a tremendous recommendation of books in here. Your summer holiday reading promise the most erudite time!

  8. the american editions are often designed so much more beautiful than here. over all german books are more clean and less "romantic". still that can turn out to be really lovely. but especially 15 books you are showing here have this particular style you simply cannot find here. at least there are bookstores by now that carry the american editions as well. you'll probably find it very german of me to say that my favorit among the books you listed is the one by jasper conran - "country". simple but beautiful ; )

  10. Lois, Khulood, thank you for giving me more reading inspirations, I will look into those authors. :)
ASD: Conran's book is an absolute treasure. I saw it a few days ago in the store and could hardly leave it behind...It will have to wait a bit...Thank you for Rachel Cusk, I am going to look for it!
Eugen, I know what you mean. When I first saw American books I thought them a bit over the top and dramatic, but I actually enjoy covers which get me in the mood and style of the story or whatever lies between the pages. There are often different editions and I always look to find the one I love the most.
German editions reflect the German intellectual overtones in literature and set apart different types, form and subject of books with their corresponding covers. A bit more sober and restraint. Great reflection, thank you Eugen! :D
Karena, I am so glad you have some of those above as well and I feel similar: So many books so little time!!!
    I am coming right over...

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my wee little blog. :)
