Orchids

One of the wonderful things of unstructured time on weekends is the possibility to ask the following delightful question: What should we do today?
And we found our answer in a heartbeat! A visit to the New York Botanical Garden, located in the Bronx, mere 10 min away from us by car. Off we went to see the currently running Cuban Orchid Show! Dedicated to the orchids of Cuba the show has Cuban music in the background and all I wanted to do is dance among the flowers...It was so fantastic and colourful and inspiring, let's just say beyond words, so I will shush and just take you around a bit!

Walking past dormant gardens...

and slowly awakening trees...

towards the wonderful conservatory with it's promise of warmth and beauty!

The small pavilion in it's reflecting pool.

I am by no means an expert, so I will not pull out botanical species names, but show you, what caught my eye and simply indulge in the splendors of nature!

Aren't those names wonderful?

My son being fully engaged in the hunt for gorgeous images...

My sweet companions...

Among bewitching scents and beauty!

I can only recommend a visit if it's remotely reachable for you, the orchid wonders are well worth the journey...
And the emerging flowers and blossoming trees outdoors are always a treat! Of course I visted the shop at the Garden, but this is a new post in a few days!

  3. Trees may grow in Brooklyn, but orchids grow in the Bronx. Your family is beautiful, too.

  6. What a beautiful post! I love the colourful orchids and among all the colours, doesn't the simplicity of the white jasmine flower stand out the most? Thanks my dear for brighten up my day xxx

  8. Orchids are absolutely beautiful! My mother has an obsession over them. Does the botanical garden have different areas that are in bloom depending on the season?

  9. Victoria, thank you for your sweet comments on my post "Letting go". I really enjoyed reading about your experiences.

The conservatory looks amazing and so beautiful. Great pictures. I cannot wait to see flowers blooming soon. Unfortunately, here in MA, you don't see as many as you would see in CA. When I lived there, the flowers were abundant and climbing roses would be found just going wild climbing up trees. It was heavenly.

    Hope you are well,
    Jamilyn
