Kidding around

Great design for children is not hard to come by these days. I have been looking around a bit. Maybe because my own children have doubtlessly outgrown the small furniture phase and I look with sentimental eyes at all those pint size designed chairs, tables and lovely accessories for the wee ones...

Over the last years has been a movement to recapture the midcentury design spirit and many famous chairs in particular have been redone in kid friendly sizes.
Modern parents look for modern design in the nursery, playrooms and childrens bedrooms.
I found pretty things.

DesignPublic has a great selection from baby through teens:

Mohair Teddy by Steiff - timeless!

Online Etsy seller 'decoylab' has these timely things, which fit right in with the midcentury theme:

And this seller 'petitcollage' makes very similar designed items. I am wondering if they know each other....

I adore those mobiles!

Knoll has come out with a whole series of great design classics for children, I show you only a few of their extensive selection.
Noguchi's Cyclone table and Bertoia's Diamond chair

as well as Saarinen's Womb chair:

There is so much more out there, Land of Nod, PB teens, Crate and Barrel, Ikea, The Conran Shop, NYC's Moma design store, Stokke, countless web sites and many more places cater to design concious parents and modern children alike.
