Color exploration: Do you see gray?
I have developed a love for grays. I seem to see more gray and I love the gentle tones of all sorts of grays. I admire the understated sophistication and quiet elegance, the beauty of a sometimes more monochrome palette or juxtaposed with all possible accents. Almost any color can be successfully combined with gray, it's a question of proportion and scale.
All decorating styles can incorporate grays, from rustic to refined. I imagine a farmhouse filled with natural grays and I can see an elegant swedish interior with gray silks and wallpapers. Silver works especially well next to gray, all metals, glas and all natural elements.
Driftwood, metal, stone, silks, sky, wool, water - all this and more come to my mind.
Gray moves along from pinks to browns, blues and greens. It shows more lavender or purple, the light loves to play with gray. Shadows and snow come alive.
The impressionists loved the subtle tones of gray.
Gray is beautiful.
Gray calms me and fills me with serenity. Do you like gray tones?

How odd, I just painted a swatch of gray for my bath and when I have a few hours, I am going to give it some gray - I love the calmness.
