I love pretty china....



This is from Ralph Lauren's Mandarin Blue collection. Above his Red Pagoda pattern! I have a crush!



And Martha Stewart's willow basket is so inviting for a picnic...and the casual plates/cups/bowls above mix and match!





Mikasa's daylight collection is so pretty, the glasses are from Villeroy & Boch's My Garden collection, Jasper Conran for Wedgewood - Chinoiserie and Vera Wang's Ikat pattern. Aren't they so right for spring?




Lenox is an old staple with an endless assortment, I like Gilded Tapestry and the Chirp collection. And the poppy tea pot is so lovely: By Vista Allegre. Kate Spade's Gwinett Lane Creme, it's so fresh!

A bit of the 50's touch, made modern by Dansk' Arabesque Blue, Mikasa's Circle Chic , Roseanne's dinnerware Red Dot and Kate Spade's St.Kitt's Exeter Road.


This is Wedgewood's Renaissance collection, a classic pattern, fit for a queen!

All found at Macy's! The possibilities are endless and I just picked a few colourful examples, I also love to look at Anthropologie for fun and hip plates and cups, I like to mix my china and play with patterns!




These are some of the ones I like at the current selection at the stores and you might remember probably that the flowery cup above is my favorite, every morning coffee in it!!!
And I love the bohemian feel of that seafaring platter! Called fittingly Bateau!
It lets me dream of summertime and sailing and lobster....and my feet in the water!

Lace of spring

Yesterday I walked through my garden and the beauty of all the emerging flowers and blossoming trees gave way to think how we take those colors and patterns and turn them in to design, reflecting nature and making it last. At least for a while longer then those fleeing moments of this season. Nothing tells me more about the truth that change is the only constant thing...And yet we want to hold on to it, keep it alive.
Carolyn Quartermaine is just the designer who embodies this: the laces of spring, she captures the delicacy and the gentleness of these weeks so perfectly.














Let's be seduced by spring, let the colours and scents entice us, fall pray to beauty and bounty, let the gentle breezes caress our senses and find it... out there in gardens and on fabrics and dresses!

Friday flowers

This is a party weekend for us, Saturday fully booked from the morning on...til late at night! I am very much looking forward to it! Sunday almost the same.... This happens rarely, so I really do not mind at all!!! NO COOKING! (Do you hear me singing?)



Isn't this dress so perfect for the blossoms around it?
All our trees are in full bloom, so pretty to watch them change within days from bare to gorgeous! The magnolia stands right in front of our bedroom and now the robins wake us every morning with their exuberant song!

Our girl,

Today is her thirteenth birthday and we are so aware of the years which have flown by since the day we cradled her in our arms for the first time.
She has changed our lives and fills us with gladness, love and the daily new experiences of living with a curious and happy girl...
She grew up so fast! She makes us laugh and surprises us often with her talent for singing and performing! She challenges us.
It fills us with pleasure to see how secure she is, how mature and responsible and how much she knows already of the world. She loves life with such passion and she has become a sweet young woman. We are proud of her!



John Quincy Adams once wrote: Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish in thin air.
Let this guide you on the way, when you make your journey through the coming year!
